Students

Welcome to the Student homepage for the Humanitarian Technology Challenge (HTC), a joint IEEE and United Nations Foundation project.

HTC is a partnership among humanitarians, technologists, funders, and others, to develop implementable technological solutions to three key challenges facing humanitarian health and disaster workers today. The participants volunteer their time to collaborate for the benefit of humanity.

We welcome student participation in HTC. Students can offer their ideas and comment on others' ideas using our web-based collaboration system, Spigit. This is a chance for you to interact electronically with technical professionals and humanitarians, and to make a difference to people in need.

If you came to this student homepage directly, you may want to visit / to find out more details about the HTC project, including how to obtain a login to our collaboration system. Visit frequently for updates on upcoming conferences and workshops related to IEEE humanitarian technology work.

In addition to welcoming students sharing ideas with other HTC project participants, we also invite students to enter a special Student Design Competition for more complete solutions to the three HTC target challenges. The Competition objective is to provide a working prototype, scale model or detailed engineering design specifications for a project that satisfies one of the three Challenges. The project can be developed by student individuals or by student teams. More details about the HTC Student Design Competition can be found in the Student Challenge section.

If you are an IEEE member and already active in any humanitarian projects, we also welcome your recording your experiences and contact information in the new IEEE Humanitarian Technology Network database, http://www.ieeehtn.org/.
